The true calibre of Souths in 2024 will get a rousing test in a clash of unbeaten teams when the Magpies play premiers Brothers at Crosby Park on Saturday.

The feature match of Round Three in the StoreLocal Hospital Cup has extra intrigue with the Magpies fielding their strongest side of the year as they attempt to build on wins over Norths and GPS.

Reds flyhalf Harry McLaughlin-Phillips, fresh off his 20th birthday, will slot in at No.10 for his first game of the year. Reds squadmate Taj Annan will operate from outside centre in a Magpies backline with plenty of punch.

Steamroller Vilikesa Raboiliku, at inside centre, will make the Brethren pay if they have eyes only for the young Reds duo.

The Brethren opened their title defence with a 51-17 thrashing of the Tigers last weekend. Dapper flyhalf Paddy James celebrates his 150th club game for Brothers in this one in front of his home fans.

Young gun inside centre Dre Pakeho is at the other end of the scale making his mark as a regular top grader for the first time.

At Yoku Road, University of Queensland will be out to regain the Halley Appleby Memorial Trophy.

Halfback Liam Prendergast has forced his way into the UQ starting side. Flanker Okaw Obonno has won his starting chance after strong performances.

On the Gold Coast, Bond University's chequered start to the season faces another challenge with Wests arriving with plenty of strikepower.

Giant prop Cobus Eloff is back in the front-row for the Bulldogs who will have Melbourne Rebel Mason Gordon steering things from No.10.

At Courtney Field, Norths host a Sunnybank side with renewed vigour and cohesion under playmaker Liam McNamara and coach Rob Roiri.
