Sevens plays a crucial role in Queensland’s women’s landscape — welcoming new participants while providing a launchpad for experienced athletes targeting top-level performance.
In 2025, the Sevens calendar is expanding, with more tournaments and more opportunities than ever.
February & March: Four tournaments offering:
- Club recruitment & retention opportunities
- Competitive match play for developing athletes
- High-performance pathways for players pushing for World Series selection
The Caslick Cup returns in October & November, delivering:
- The highest standard of club Sevens in Australia
- A showcase of Queensland’s best club talent
- Pathways for emerging stars from QLD & NSW to step into elite environments

Launching in 2025, the Challenge Cup is a brand-new addition developed in partnership with South East Queensland clubs and stakeholders.
Its purpose:
- Build competitive depth in the senior women’s game
- Provide meaningful matches before the Premier Women’s and SEQ Women’s Cup seasons
- Offer clubs and players “like for like” matchups based on level, experience, and development
Running March → May 2025, Challenge Cup opens the door for every club and athlete to test themselves, improve, and prepare for the season ahead.
Premier Women’s Rugby Nine Queensland Premier Rugby clubs battle for:
- The Premier Women’s trophy
- Contribution toward the coveted Doughty Shield This competition represents the highest level of 15-a-side club rugby in the state.
SEQ Women’s Cup A diverse and inclusive competition bringing together teams from:
- Queensland Suburban Rugby
- Gold Coast Rugby It provides a home for players of all experience levels, offering competitive fixtures and a welcoming community environment.
