The Q7s School Tournaments bring together schools from across Queensland to experience the excitement of Rugby Sevens — from first-time players to established programs.
Q7s offers a fun, fast-paced, and inclusive pathway for both primary and secondary schools, providing opportunities for students of all abilities to represent their school, build teamwork, and develop a lifelong connection to the game.
Whether your school is just getting started or already has rugby on the calendar, there’s a Q7s tournament for you.
The Emerging School 7s series is designed for schools new to rugby or without a regular competition. These tournaments focus on participation, enjoyment, and development — no powerhouse programs or one-sided games, just exciting, evenly matched contests that build confidence and a love for the game.
Events are held throughout the year in regions across Queensland, giving schools the chance to learn, play, and grow at their own pace.
Perfect for schools wanting to:
- Introduce students to rugby in a fun, low-pressure environment
- Build a positive rugby culture from the ground up
- Give players and teachers a taste of what rugby has to offer
For schools looking for a more competitive or structured experience, Q7s also runs Primary and Secondary divisions across the state. These tournaments cater to a range of ability levels and provide a clear pathway for students to continue their rugby journey through school and beyond.
Each event delivers an exciting day of short, action-packed matches — where teamwork, sportsmanship, and school pride take centre stage.
In addition to Q7s-run events, a number of independent and partner school tournaments are held throughout Queensland each year. These competitions complement the Q7s pathway and provide even more opportunities for students to get involved in rugby at school level.
A list of recognised external school tournaments will be available below as part of our statewide school rugby calendar.
Joining Q7s is easy — and open to all schools! Simply check out the tournament dates below, find an event near you, and register your school to be part of the action.
