Townsville Brothers secured the TDRU premiership with a come-from-behind win over the weekend, while the Bowen Mudcrabs stamped their ticket to the Grand Final in Mackay.

Townsville Brothers have claimed the Townsville District Rugby Union Premiership in dramating fashion, coming from behind to beat Teachers West 27-24.
Teachers West scored first, a loose ball landing in the hands of Joshua Fletcher and allowing him to race down the sideline, his speed too much for his opposition to stop as he passed all his defenders.
Fletcher converted his own try to give the Bulldogs an early lead.
Brothers quickly took a penalty goal for early points, which Brendan Morgan was able to successfully convert.
Ethan Cooper allowed Brother to take the lead as he crashed over the line after a strong run from Brendan Morgan, with Morgan again converting.
However, Teachers West were able to wrestle back the momentum through a Daniel Chorley try in the corner and successful conversion by Fletcher.
Fletcher had the chance to give his team a converted try lead with a shot at goal from 50-metres out and his impressive boot was able to convert the goal going into the break.
The half time score stood at 17-10, with Teachers West in the lead.Teachers West were first to score in the second half through Hugh Scott, who ran straight from the scrum to score under the posts.
Brothers fought back to stay in the game and Lachlan Fanning gave his team motivation after crossing for a much-needed try. Morgan’s conversion was successful, closing the gap between the sides to just a converted try.
Brothers continued to put pressure on as Matthew Fanning scored with two minutes remining and Morgan continued his form off the tee to lock up the scores.
A penalty saw Morgan take a shot at goal at the end of the game and he made no mistake, kicking his team to a memorable victory.
In Reserve Grade, Teachers West were able to defeat Brothers, 24-14, scoring four tries to two.
Teachers West were able to beat the minor premiers for the first time in 2022, after finishing in fourth-place.
Meanwhile in the Women’s competition, Townsville Brothers toppled the minor premiers Western Suburbs, 26-3.
Brothers Captain Julia Douglas got her team on the board first followed by Sophie Lew and Mikayla Newman who scored a double.
Western Suburbs only points came from a penalty goal which was converted by Amanda Whelan.
This was a historic win for Brothers, as the women’s team re-entered the competition this year after spending the previous season on the sidelines.
Townsville Brothers had a senior team in every Grand Final, claiming two out of three wins.
Bowen Mudcrabs booked their spot in the 2022 Mackay Rugby Union Grand Final, winning the major semi-final 14-11 against minor premiers Proserpine Whitsunday Raiders at Whitsunday Sports Park.
Mudcrabs Nick Poole and Oscar Turner scored the tries with Nick Poole converting both.
Raiders Kumya Gabey scored their sole try, with Niall Clancy adding two penalties.
The Mackay derby between Citiy and Brothers saw another close game, City earning the win 17 to 12.
Redmen Kaiden Axiak, Stefan Pitt and Phillip Collins crossed for tries with Matt Gamble converting one, while Brothers’ Timothy McClymont and Kyle Danns scored with Kallum Mackay converting one try.
The last game at Whitsunday Sports Park saw another close game between the Kuttabul Camelboks and Slade Point, with the Camelboks claiming a 28-24 victory.
Kuttabul ran in five tries to four with James Senavanua Kean scoring a double.
Next round will see the Proserpine Whitsunday Raiders take on the Kuttabul Camelboks for the remaining Grand Final spot.
