Now in its fifth year, the Catholic Secondary Schoolgirls' Sports Association (CaSSSA) Junior Girls Rugby 7s Program continues to open doors for young women discovering rugby for the very first time.

This year, 122 girls from six schools, including Stuartholme, Mount Alvernia and other all girls schools, in Years 7 and 8 took part in the seven-week program throughout term one, beginning with rugby skills sessions before putting it all together in games to finish.

For many, it was their first time touching a rugby ball. From tentative first passes to confident runs down the field, the growth across the seven weeks was nothing short of inspiring.

But the player development wasn't the only story. For the first time, the program was run entirely by female staff — on the field delivering every skills session, and on the whistle come game day. Their presence sent a powerful message to every girl stepping onto the field: that rugby is a sport where women belong, not just as players, but as leaders.

Now in its fifth year, the CaSSSA Junior 7s program is proof that when you give girls the opportunity and the right role models, great things happen.

The next generation of stars? Their journey starts right here.
