The Darling Downs School Sports Rugby Union recently hosted its annual representative trials, bringing together some of the region's most talented young rugby union players across two dedicated selection days.

The U12 trials were held on Thursday, 21 May, at Riddles Oval, Goondiwindi Rugby Union Club, with Team Manager Stan McDonald from Goondiwindi State School leading the day. The U15 trials followed on Friday, 22 May, at SCOTS PGC College, Warwick, coordinated by Team Manager Matt Wilkie from Downlands College.

Both trial days were exceptionally well organised and demonstrated the strong commitment to grassroots rugby union development across the Darling Downs region. Students from schools throughout the area came together to compete for a place in their respective representative squads, with the trials offering boys and girls a genuine pathway to higher honours in school sport rugby union. The dedication shown by team managers, school staff, and the students themselves made both events a standout success.

Congratulations to all students who were selected for the U12 and U15 Darling Downs representative teams — your effort and determination throughout the trials has earned you a well-deserved place in the squad. Selection at this level is a significant achievement and represents an exciting stepping stone in your rugby union journey. The Darling Downs School Sports community looks forward to seeing you compete and fly the flag for the region in the weeks ahead.
