The Southport School defeated Brisbane Grammar School 26-17 in a close encounter at Northgate in Round 6 of the GPS 1st XV competition.

It was one way traffic in the first half with TSS scoring all of the points with three converted tries.

Winger Mason King and fullback Keahn Skipps both crossed as captain Jye Gray raced away for a 90-metre runaway try just before half time, with flyhalf Spencer Alcock kicking three-from-three.

However, it was a different story in the second half as Grammar opened the scoring with hooker Nick Hatzipetrou crashing over first after the break.

Grammar scored the next two tries with winger Lewis Strachan and replacement Angus Tolhurst both diving over in the right corner to reduce the margin to four points at 21-17.

TSS received two yellow cards in the second half due to high tackles and poor discipline and Grammar capitalised.

Returning a kick, TSS captain Gray used his speed to burst through the Grammar defensive line, breaking four tackles before passing it out to Mason King for his second try of the game in the 62nd minute.

Elsewhere, Gregory Terrace recorded their second win of the season with a 22-13 victory over Ipswich Grammar School.

The two teams exchanged penalty kicks early in the game with Terrace fullback Nicholas Dunstan and Ipswich flyhalf Jack Hocking both taking the points available.

The game's first try wasn’t scored until the 33rd minute when Ipswich loose forward duo Lyncoln Cliffe and David Leota put together a string of outrageous offloads to allow fullback Kohen Briggs to dive over the line untouched.

Terrace responded immediately after with Nicholas Dunstan going over for their first five-pointer of the game.

Ipswich’s centre pairing of Stanley Huen and Israel Leota were once again standouts, with both players making multiple line breaks using their speed and power throughout the game.

Terrace’s captain Angus Munn led from the front in his team's victory, scoring a try as well as making the most carries of any player in the game.

At Ross Oval, Nudgee beat Brisbane State High School 45-nil in a clinical performance in front of their home fans.

Nudgee fullback Tory Bath opened the scoring in just the fifth minute of the game after catching an overhead pass from lock Jack Harley and then dummying past the oncoming defender to score under the posts.

Bath scored two tries along with flyhalf Archie Condon and winger Kai Combarngo in the first half to see Nudgee take a commanding 33-nil lead into the main break.

The home side scored two more tries in the second half with hooker Wil Rogers scoring off the back of a strong rolling maul.

Outside Centre Tariq Tanner caught an intercept on the halfway line to score Nudgee’s final try of the game in the 43rd minute.

On the Downs, Toowoomba Grammar School beat Brisbane Boys College 35-29 for their second win of the season.

Toowoomba snapped a three-game losing streak after going down to Nudgee, Southport and Churchie.

BBC outscored Toowoomba with five-tries-to-four, however it was the goal kicking that proved the difference in the end.

BBC only converted two of their five tries while Toowoomba kicked three conversions with three penalty goals.

Toowoomba Grammar loose forward Xander Jacobs and BBC wing Samson Tuqiri both scored two tries each for their team.
