The St.George Queensland Reds have continued to bolster their backline with the signing of experienced fullback Aidan Toua for the 2018 Super Rugby season.

Toua, 27, made his Queensland debut in 2011 and featured in 10 games for the Reds before taking up an opportunity in France.

He has spent the last two seasons with the Brumbies as the side’s starting fullback.

The 27-year-old said he was excited to return to the place where his career began and hoped to be able to contribute to the Reds’ efforts in 2018.

“It’s really awesome to be back at Ballymore. It’s nice to have this opportunity to resurrect my Reds career and it’s something I’m really looking forward to,” Toua said.

“I feel like I’m returning with more experience and hopefully I can have a positive impact here.” Reds head coach Brad Thorn said Toua would add valuable experience to the Reds backline.

“It’s great to get Aidan on board. He’s a talented player who left Queensland a number of years ago and is returning with plenty of experience,” Thorn said.

“He’s got a good boot on him and understands the game really well, which is important for his position. He’ll provide us with good depth in the backline and is coming back because he loves this place and wants to contribute.”

Toua and the Reds' pre-season preparations continue next week as they host their final trial match against Fiji Warriors at Ballymore Stadium on Thursday 15 February.
