David Codey was today elected QRU President at the QRU Annual General Meeting at Ballymore.
Mr Codey, a former Queensland and Wallaby forward, replaces another Wallaby, Jeff Miller, who was elected to the QRU Board at today's meeting.
QRU Chairman Damien Frawley also announced his intention to step down as QRU Chairman, citing work commitments.
Mr Frawley, a former Queensland and Wallabies second row, is the current CEO of Queensland Investment Corporation (QIC) and told the meeting that after two years at the helm he needed to prioritise his professional work outside Rugby.
Mr Frawley said: "In 2016 we made a number of decisions to restore the financial integrity of the Union, and our annual result in 2017 is a positive step in the right direction and something we can build upon.
"The QRU's executive is implementing a fresh strategy with renewed support from our financiers and commercial partners. The organisation is well placed for me to pass the baton on to a new Chairman."
It is expected that the QRU Board will elect a successor to Mr Frawley at a Board meeting later this month.
Elections The meeting elected David Codey as the new QRU President with Jeff Miller stepping down after three years in the role.
Vice-presidents Bill Ross and Andrew Slack were re-elected to the roles.
Board Member Mark Connors was re-elected to the Board.Board Member Mark Stanton was re-elected to the Board.
Jeff Miller was elected to the Board.
The meeting also confirmed that Boyd Curran replaced Ross Thompson as a QRU Board member in the Casual Vacancy position on 22 February.
All Board members elected or appointed were endorsed by the QRU Nominations Committee.
Notes to Editors:David Codey BCom GAICD - QRU PresidentDavid Codey was born 7 July 1957 and is a former NSW, Queensland and Wallaby representative, who made 13 Test match appearances as flanker between 1983 and 1987, captaining Australia on one occasion against the All Blacks in 1987.
David is currently a Consulting Adviser and Head of Morgans Aged Care Advice team, having been with Morgans Financial Limited since 1987.

Boyd Curran - (New) QRU Board MemberBoyd Curran was born 13 April 1966 and has a long history of playing and being involved at an administrative level in Rugby in Queensland.
Boyd spent his secondary school years at renowned Queensland Rugby schools TSS and Downlands before commencing a successful club career at Queensland Premier Club GPS, culminating in representing Queensland at under18, under19, under21 and Australia at under21 level.
Boyd was in the role of Western Queensland Rugby President for 3 years (2007 - 2009), and more recently served as Queensland Country Rugby President from 2010 to 2013.
Boyd also captained Queensland Country from 1989 to 1993.
Boyd is currently Managing Partner at Landmark Greater Western Queensland Partnership, which services pastoral enterprises and regional communities in Central and North Western Queensland with branches in Blackall, Longreach and Winton.
