ONE TEAM. ONE REGION. ONE DREAM: Central Queensland Celebrates Outstanding Queensland Country Championships Success

Central Queensland rugby has plenty to celebrate following an outstanding Queensland Country Championships campaign, highlighted by the U18 CQ Girls claiming the 2026 Queensland Country Championship title.

The championship victory is a testament to the hard work, commitment and resilience shown by the players, coaches and support staff throughout the season. The achievement not only showcases the strength of girls rugby in Central Queensland but also provides inspiration for the next generation of young athletes across the region.

Adding to the success, Central Queensland Bushies players earned significant recognition with outstanding representation in the Queensland Country Teams:

🏉 U13 Queensland Country Team

  • 3 CQ Bushies boys selected

🏉 U14 Queensland Country Team

  • 7 CQ Bushies boys selected

🏉 U16 Queensland Country Team

  • 6 CQ Bushies boys selected
  • 10 CQ Bushies girls selected

These selections reflect the depth of talent emerging from Central Queensland and the strong development pathways being built across the region.

While the results and selections are deserving of celebration, the championships were about much more than trophies and representative honours. The event provided a fantastic experience for all involved, creating lifelong memories and valuable learning opportunities for players, coaches and families.

From early morning departures and team bonding experiences to hard-fought matches and regional pride, the championships showcased the very best of country rugby. The dedication of parents, volunteers and support networks continues to play a vital role in helping young athletes pursue their rugby dreams.

Congratulations to all players, coaches, team managers, volunteers and families who represented Central Queensland with pride. Your efforts have once again demonstrated the strength of rugby in our region and the exciting future that lies ahead.
