The Junior Wallabies extended squad has descended on Runaway Bay on the Gold Coast today for the squad’s third preparation camp ahead of the Oceania Rugby U20s Championship next month.

The Squad of over 40 players, featuring 15 Queenslanders, continue Australia’s preparation ahead of the Championship as well as the World Rugby U20s Championship to be held in France this June.

The Junior Wallabies will be bolstered by players returning from Super Rugby clubs including Tate McDermott, Harry Hockings, Angus Blyth and Harry Hoopert from the Queensland Reds.

The camp comes as the Six Nations U20s continues to rage in Europe and the UK with Australia’s Pool challengers for the World Rugby U20s Championship, Wales currently sitting in fourth place following a shock loss to Italy, 18-7.

Australia will also play New Zealand and Japan in Pool A.

Queensland based Junior Wallabies Head Coach, Jason Gilmore said: “Both players and the coaching staff are looking forward to continuing our preparation for our 2018 campaign.

“We have really started to develop our systems and patterns and we’re looking forward to giving more detail to the lads to enhance our preparation.

“We have a talented young group of players and we’re enjoying the hard work as we get ready for the Oceania Rugby and World Rugby U20s Championships.”

The Junior Wallabies will be in camp at Runaway Bay on the Gold Coast until March 16.
