QRU Safeguarding Project
Update 8 April 2026
Under the Child Safe Organisations Act 2024 (Queensland), organisations that provide services or spaces for children under 18 must implement Queensland’s 10 Child Safe Standards. Sporting clubs and associations must begin compliance by 1 April 2026. Organisations (including sporting clubs and associations) that provide camps or activities with overnight stays must begin compliance by 1 January 2026.
To support you in meeting these requirements, QRU is delivering the QRU Child Safeguarding Support Project, with CPR Group engaged as our delivery partner. The project provides practical, rugby-specific support to help your organisation strengthen child safety.
- Tailored child-safe resources and templates designed for rugby
- Regional education workshops (in-person) plus an online option for those unable to attend in person
- A Queensland Youth Leadership Council to ensure young people have a clear, supported voice in shaping child safety in Queensland rugby
- Free access to rugby-specific templates, checklists and guidance
- Hands-on training to implement good practice in your local context
- Consistent, sport-aligned approaches to reporting, risk management, safer recruitment, communications, travel/transport and events
- Opportunities for youth leadership and feedback on child safety
