Rugby fever has officially hit the South Burnett region following a highly successful three-day rollout of the in-school Legacy Primary 7s program.

From June 16 to June 18, development clinics were delivered by Queensland Rugby staff across five local schools: Kingaroy State School, Taabinga State School, Wondai State School, Saint Mary's Catholic College, and St Joseph’s Murgon. The energy was high as hundreds of primary school students got their hands on the football, many experiencing the sport for the first time.

The targeted sessions focused on developing core rugby 7s knowledge and fundamental skills. Students practiced catch-and-pass drills, evasion techniques, and teamwork through fun, high-density games

These sessions serve as the vital building blocks for the region's ultimate prize. Students are now putting their new skills into practice at school training as they prepare for the upcoming Primary School Rugby 7s Gala Day, scheduled for August 19.

With rivalries brewing and skills sharpening, the August gala day promises to showcase the very best young sporting talent the South Burnett has to offer.

A big thankyou goes the participating schools and staff in getting this exciting opportunity rolling.

Schools taking part in this program also have access to accredited Coaching and Match Officiating courses along with a provision of equipment to continue the training after our development staff have left.

The Legacy Primary 7s Program is proudly supported by the Queensland Government.
