Position: Regional Rugby Manager - North Queensland

Location: North Queensland (Cairns or Townsville)

Tenure: Full time

Package: Salary + Maintained Vehicle

The Queensland Rugby Union Ltd is seeking applications from people who are engaged in the North Queensland community to work with our local affiliated associations, clubs and schools to grow the game by engaging more participants at every level by enriching the Rugby experience and providing connected pathways.

About the Role

As a Regional Rugby Manager, you’ll be the face of QRU in your region—driving participation, supporting clubs and schools, and delivering programs that grow the game. You’ll work closely with local stakeholders to enrich the Rugby experience and ensure sustainable growth at all levels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Grow participation across clubs, schools, and community programs.
  • Support and implement QRU and Rugby Australia initiatives.
  • Be the primary contact for clubs, schools, and regional associations.
  • Build strong relationships with local Rugby associations, club, schools, and community organisations.
  • Deliver exceptional stakeholder service and promote QRU tools and resources.
  • Deliver and report on regional plans, KPIs, and budgets.

What You’ll Bring

  • Experience working with and as a volunteer in community sport.
  • Proven success in delivering participation strategies.
  • Strong Rugby Union knowledge (Level 2 Coach+ preferred).
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Rugby Xplorer, and digital tools.
  • Ability to manage data, timelines, and outcomes effectively.
  • A valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel and work flexible hours.
  • A current Working With Children (WWC) Check?

Desirable Extras

  • World Rugby Educator accreditation.
  • Experience in a not-for-profit or sports organisation.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Sports Management or related field.
  • Experience in adult training or education.
