Queensland Rugby is preparing to release the Queensland Rugby Community Facilities Strategy (QRCFS) 2026–2030, outlining a clear roadmap to support the growth, capacity and inclusivity of rugby facilities across the state.

The upcoming release aligns strongly with the Queensland Government’s recent announcement of the Games On! Grassroots Infrastructure Fund – Expression of Interest (EOI), creating a timely opportunity for rugby clubs and associations to progress priority infrastructure projects.

The next iteration of the QRCFS has been informed by extensive consultation throughout 2025, including virtual sessions attended by more than 40 club and association representatives, alongside a series of meetings with local governments across Queensland.

The strategy is underpinned by key pillars focused on:

  • Improving existing venue capacity
  • Delivering inclusive rugby facilities
  • Planning for growth and demand
  • Strengthening partnerships and investment

These priorities align closely with the Games On! Fund’s focus on improving playing field quality and capacity, as well as delivering fit-for-purpose supporting amenities.

To ensure rugby projects are well positioned for future funding opportunities, Queensland Rugby is encouraging clubs and associations to:

  1. Register their infrastructure projects with Queensland Rugby via the QRU Infrastructure Project Submission Form.
  2. Submit an Expression of Interest to the Games On! Fund and contact Queensland Rugby staff for support where required.

Clubs are also encouraged to review key compliance requirements, such as up-to-date financial auditing with the Office of Fair Trade, to ensure project eligibility.

The QRCFS 2026–2030 will include a prioritised pipeline of rugby infrastructure projects, which will be used to support advocacy to government and funding partners and guide future investment across the state. Further updates on the release of the QRCFS and key dates will be shared in the coming weeks.
