The Queensland Rugby community is mourning the loss of Queensland Representative #541, Dr Henry Flanagan, who passed on Friday 20 November at the age of 96.
Born in 1923 in Brisbane, Dr Flanagan was educated at St. Joseph’s Gregory Terrace, before beginning his tertiary studies at the University of Queensland and making his A-Grade debut for the club in 1942.
Dr Flanagan debuted for Queensland in 1945 against New South Wales, scoring two tries and helping the side to a 19-14 win in what was his sole appearance for his state.
A prop, Dr Flanagan studied Dentistry and Medicine and played Rugby at UQ and was awarded a Half Blue in 1945 to recognise his contribution to sport at the university.
The QRU will provide funeral details once they are made available.
