As the 2022 Queensland Premier Rugby season nears it’s culmination, finals venues have been confirmed with Suncorp Stadium to once again host the StoreLocal Hospital Cup Grand Final, as well as both the Colts 1 and Women’s Grand Finals, on Sunday September 18.

The Ballymore redevelopment saw the Queensland Premier Rugby finals series leave Ballymore in 2021, with the Hospital Cup, Women’s and Colts 1 Grand Finals being played on Queensland’s biggest sporting stage, while Queensland Premier Rugby clubs hosted semi-finals, and lower grade Grand Finals.

Similar to last season, GPS will host major semi-finals across all grades as well as lower grade minor semi-finals on the weekend of the 3 September, while Wests will host the minor semi-finals for Colts 1, Women, Second Grade and Hospital Cup on Sunday 4 September.

Brothers will host preliminary finals for lower grades on Saturday 10 September, while Bond University will host the Women’s, Colts 1, Second Grade and Hospital Cup preliminary finals on Sunday 11 September.

Wests will host the lower grade Grand Finals on Saturday, 17 September, before Hospital Cup, Colts 1 and Women’s Grand Finalists head to Suncorp Stadium on Sunday, 18 September.

“It’s great to have our Queensland Premier Rugby finals series venues locked away and we’re looking forward to returning to Suncorp Stadium for club Rugby’s biggest day of the year,” said Gaven Head, QRU’s General Manager of Community Rugby.

“Last year we saw our Queensland Premier Rugby clubs do a great job as hosts of finals matches, and this year we went to tender with our clubs once again to gauge interest as to who would like to host finals for 2022.

“I have no doubt that GPS, Wests, Brothers and Bond will all do a great job at hosting the various finals matches and ultimately building excitement for what will be a celebration of club Rugby when we head to Suncorp Stadium for the Women’s, Colts 1 and Hospital Cup Grand Finals.

“Last year we saw our club Rugby players get to experience Queensland’s greatest sporting stage and we look forward to providing that opportunity for our club players once again this year.”

The Hospital Cup Grand Final will also be broadcast LIVE on free-to-air television via 9Gem, as well as the major semi-final and preliminary final, while Stan Sport will also provide their regular coverage.

Ticketing information for the Grand Final at Suncorp Stadium will be announced in the near future.

Six clubs remain in contention for the Hospital Cup finals, with Wests currently in first place on the ladder, followed by Brothers, University of Queensland and GPS, while Easts and Bond University sit just outside of the top four.
