Queensland Rugby is advancing the next phase of its long-term facilities planning, with work continuing on the 2025–2030 Community Facilities Strategy. Following strong progress delivered through the current strategy, including more than $3 million secured for community infrastructure upgrades, this next chapter will focus on creating targeted planning and advocacy opportunities to enhance rugby facilities across the state.

Since the project submission portal opened, 14 community-led facility projects have already been registered, reflecting strong engagement and a shared vision for growing the game through improved infrastructure.

To support the rugby community in understanding the strategy’s purpose, priorities, and opportunities, Queensland Rugby will host two online information and consultation sessions. These sessions will provide insight into:

  • How community rugby facilities link into national and state strategic priorities, including the Queensland Government’s Ministerial Charter and major event opportunities.
  • Why the four strategic pillars of the previous facilities strategy remain central to future planning.
  • How clubs can use the strategy to strengthen their infrastructure planning, advocate for investment, and position themselves for funding.

Session Details (Online):

  • Option 1: Wednesday 19 November, 12:00pm–12:30pm
  • Option 2: Monday 24 November, 6:30pm–7:00pm

These short online sessions are open to all clubs, associations, coaches, volunteers, committee members, facility partners and interested community members. Whether your club already has a project in development or is just starting to think about future needs, this is an opportunity to understand how to plan effectively and access support available through Queensland Rugby and Rugby Australia.

Event Registrations can be made here, with a Microsoft teams link to be proved for the selected session. For more information on the sessions or on the project, contact John.Butterworth@rugby.com.au.
