Nudgee College defeated Ipswich Grammar School 29-0 away from home in Round 8 to claim their 43rd GPS First XV premiership.

With Nudgee having their bye round next week, they have secured at least a share of the premiership with their final competition win this past weekend.

The ladder-leaders scored their first try of the game when scrum half Inigo Lawrence dived over in the 22nd minute after the forward pack went close through pick and drives.

It only took Nudgee eight minutes to score their next, after centre Tariq Tanner broke through the line and ran into the opposition-22, before offloading to Lawrence who threw the final pass to winger Kai Combarngo to score.

Nudgee scored early in the second-half when prop Rory Beech picked the ball from the back of the ruck and spotted a gap to score underneath the posts.

The rolling maul was once again effective for Nudgee, with lock Griffin Schostakowski scoring a try off the back of one in the 41st minute.

Star fullback Tory Bath showed his speed to score Nudgee’s final try of the game when a loose ball was kicked downfield, outpacing the Ipswich defence to scoop the ball up and score.

The Southport School defeated Gregory Terrace 26-17 in a close game on the Gold Coast.

In wet and muddy conditions, TSS managed to outlast a tough Gregory Terrace outfit to keep their premiership hopes alive for another round.

Terrace number-eight Angus Munn scored the game's first try through a pick and drive after the Terrace forward pack that had built pressure on the TSS defence.

TSS evened the score just before half-time when winger Blake Raymond picked up an overthrown lineout and beat two defenders before offloading to lock Harry Ward to score their first try, which was converted by Spencer Alcock.

TSS scored the next two tries after halftime through fullback Keahn Skipps and prop Dechlan Faulkner to put the score out to 20-5 in the 43rd minute.

Terrace mounted a late comeback with tries to flankers Noah Clifford and Charlie Cooke however it was left too late with the final score ending as 26-17.

Anglican Church Grammar School defeated Brisbane Grammar School 31-7 to also remain in the premiership race for this season.

Strong defence and uncharacteristic errors from both schools saw neither team score any points in the first half.

Churchie struck first in the second half with the first try going to prop Archie Smith after a series of pick and drives from the Churchie forward pack in the 36th minute.

Churchie scrumhalf Archie Wilson was a standout in the second half and scored his team's second try after starting the initial move going down the short side after picking up a dropped catch.

Wilson was instrumental in the lead-up to two more tries, with Churchie scoring three more tries in the second half, wingers Connor Simpson and Mac Kelley and lock Alex Kerr all scoring one each.

Grammar broke their deadlock with hooker Nick Hatzipetrou going over after pick and driving close to the Churchie try line.

Toowoomba Grammar School beat Brisbane State High School 54-0 in their most complete game of the season.

Both backs and forwards were integral to Toowoomba’s win with many players putting in great individual performances.

Flyhalf Wihan Kruger and fullback Richard Dean were both standouts in the backline with both players assisting and setting up multiple tries and each scoring a try for themselves.

Hooker Jeremiah Sialau and flanker Xander Jacobs were amongst the standouts in the Toowoomba forward pac. Both players won crucial turnovers for their team and were effective in their carries, Sialau also scored a try off a rolling maul.
