Reds 7s head coach Reg Tayler has confirmed his side for Round 4 of the Next Gen 7s series, which kicks off at Bond University on Sunday, 27 February.

From the team that played in Sydney in Round 3 last weekend, five new faces join the line-up, with Haidee Head, Piper Flynn, Melanie Wilks, Tahli Devine and Dianne Waight all coming into the squad.

Head, Flynn and Waight have all impressed with their performances for the Rising Stars and have been rewarded with selection in the Queensland line-up, while Melanie Wilks returns from Super W duty and Tahli Devine earns her first call up of the season.

“Our depth has been tested heading into Round 4,” said head coach Reg Tayler.

“We’ve been fortunate over the opening three rounds to have the services of a number of our Aussie 7s players, but with World Series tournaments coming into the picture we will now need to rely on our Queensland Academy of Sport Women’s 7s squad players, who I’m confident will be hungry to perform in the Reds jersey.

“We’re lucky in Queensland to have an established 7s pathway which has allowed us to build depth and it’s great to see so many of our young QAS 7s squad members playing week-in-week-out in Queensland colours.

“We’ve only dropped one-game so far this series, and we want to continue to build and perform week-to-week, this Sunday at Bond is no different.”

This weekend’s tournament is the second last Next Gen 7s event, with the tournament set to conclude in Toowoomba on Saturday, March 11.

Matches will be streamed LIVE via Rugby Xplorer or Rugby.com.au.
