It’s preliminary finals time in Queensland Premier Rugby, with the Grand Finalists from each grade set to be determined by the end of the weekend.

Let’s check in across the lower grades to see who’s in line for a shot at the title.

Second Grade
Brothers v GPS | Sunday 11 September | 1:30pm | Bond University Rugby Club

Brothers will take on GPS in the Second Grade preliminary final, with both sides fighting for the chance to take on Souths in the decider next week.

The Magpies secured their spot in the Final with a comprehensive 48-28 win over the Brethren, who will be hoping for an improved performance against the Gallopers.

The minor premiers, Brothers claimed victory in both fixtures this year, but GPS will come with plenty of confidence after knocking off Bond University 20-17 in last week’s minor semi-final.

Third Grade
Easts v Souths | Saturday 10 September | 3:00pm | Norths Rugby Club

A Grand Final date with Brothers awaits either Easts or Souths in Third Grade, with the great rivals set to face off at Norths on Saturday.

Minor premiers Easts were pipped 28-22 by the Brethren in the major semi-final, the Tigers fourth loss of the season.

Souths kept their season alive with a seven-point win over Wests and come in with winning form against Easts, having defeated the Tigers in both of their meetings this season.

Fourth Grade
UQ v Brothers | Saturday 10 September | 1:30pm | Norths Rugby Club

Easts have advanced to the Fourth Grade Grand Final, defeating minor premiers UQ to earn themselves a week off and the opportunity to win the title.

UQ will dust themselves off this weekend, with the Students’ top-two finish giving them a second chance to qualify for the big dance when they take on Brothers.

The Brethren advanced to the preliminary round with a 28-22 win over GPS in the minor semi-final.

Brothers claimed a narrow one-point victory in their last meeting, while Jeeps ran out three-point winners in their Round 1 clash, meaning this one should be a cracker at Norths.

Fifth Grade
UQ v Easts | Saturday 10 September | 12:00pm | Norths Rugby Club

Souths claimed a 12-5 win over minor premiers UQ last weekend, sending the Magpies through to the Fifth Grade Grand Final.

In the minor semi-final, Easts secured a nail-biting two-point win over Wests to set up a clash with the Heavies in this week’s preliminary final at Shaw Road.

The sides couldn’t be split in their last meeting, the match finishing at 29-all, while Uni were 38-17 winners in their other fixture in 2022.

Colts 2
UQ v Souths | Saturday 10 September | 10:30am | Norths Rugby Club

After claiming the minor premiership, Brothers are the first team through to the Colts 2 Grand Final.

UQ and Souths get the chance to meet the Brethren in the big dance, and they’ll go head-to-head at Norths on Saturday.

The Students were victorious in both of their fixtures in 2022, but Souths will be riding the high of a 31-28 win over Easts in last week’s minor semi-final.

Colts 3
Souths v UQ | Saturday 10 September | 9:00am | Norths Rugby Club

Colts 3 will also see Souths take on UQ for a Grand Final berth against Brothers.

The Brethren ran out 23-14 winners over Souths in last week’s minor semi-final, while UQ proved too much for a Wests in a high scoring affair at Yoku Road.

Souths have got the chocolates in both of their encounters with the Heavies this season, although Uni enter this one with a three-game winning streak under thesir belts.
