After 15 years, the Queensland Rugby Union (QRU) and Westpac Group have confirmed that 2023 will be the final year of their partnership.

The two organisations first came together in 2009, with the St.George Bank logo on the front of the jersey. It was present for many memorable occasions including the 2011 Super Rugby Grand Final victory and 2013 fixture against the touring British & Irish Lions. In 2022, Westpac took over as the Principal Partner of the QRU.

QRU Chief Executive David Hanham said: “I’d like to thank the Westpac Group for their proud association with Queensland Rugby for the past 15 years and for their shared dedication to delivering and supporting the growth and development of Rugby across Queensland during this time.

“This partnership will remain a great example of loyalty and longevity, and what we have achieved together across all facets of the game is testament to our aligned values and vision."

Head of Sponsorships at Westpac, Pat Cunningham said: “The past 15 years have been a fantastic journey and we’re really proud of all this partnership has achieved. Not only have we supported the elite teams, but through initiatives like Footy Grants, which the QRU has helped promote to clubs in need, we’ve helped grow participation in the game at the grassroots level too.

“All of us at Westpac wish the QRU, the Reds and Reds Super W teams all the best in the seasons to come.”
